This poem always brings tears to my eyes. It did when I wrote it, and it does every year as I read it. I wrote it thinking about those I love, and don’t get to see or visit with as often as I would like. Again, it is my sincere and my heart felt wish.
If I could have a Christmas wish, I know what it would be We’d spend some real time catching up, over a cup of Christmas tea We’d talk about the years gone by, how quickly they have flown We’d talk about our children, and how quickly they have grown If I could have a Christmas wish, time and space would have no sway Old friends, although seldom seen, would never slip away But rather, with the Season, in glow of Christmas tree Unfettered hearts would meet again, over a cup of Christmas tea If I could have a Christmas wish, I know what it would be We’d have a good ole’ heart to heart, with our cup of Christmas tea We’d laugh until we cried; we’d eat the things we shouldn’t We’d talk about the things we’ve done, that we always said we wouldn’t If I could have a Christmas wish, I’d make a wish for you I’d wish you joy, I’d wish you love, and peace to see you through The joy that comes from knowing Christ came to set us free The love of Christmas every day, as through His eyes we see The peace that passes circumstance, and knows that in the end, The Christ Child born that star lit night, is Savior, Lord and Friend So let’s both make a Christmas wish I’ll think of you, you think of me We’ll share a smile and remember… Over a cup of Christmas tea ©Sharon E.
